Welcome to The Electric Highway
The Electric Highway is an annual music and arts festival in Calgary. Formerly the 420 Music and Arts Festival. 2020 is the festival’s fourth year and first under the new name. The festival is a celebration featuring Stoner Rock, Desert Rock, Psychedelic, Heavy Blues, Doom & Sludge Metal bands from Canada, the US and around the world. The main event takes place at the historic Royal Canadian Legion #1 in downtown Calgary. Besides all the rad music, festival attendees will have the opportunity to view and purchase the work of select local artists, artisans, and craftsmen at The Electric Highway Expo and play pinball in the Annual Pinball tournament at Pin-bar. There is also a kick-off party on Thursday, April 16 at the Palomino Smokehouse and Social Club where you can get your wrist band and pre-ordered merch package so you are ready to go when the event begins on Friday. Festival passes are on sale now. “All Roads Lead to The Electric Highway” #BuckleUp
The 420 Music & Arts Festival is now The Electric Highway!
After careful consideration, we have decided to change the name of the festival to The Electric Highway. When we came up with the concept for the festival in the fall of 2016, legalization was only an idea and we had no idea what impact that would have on our festival. One would think that legalization would be positive, however, it has been more of a headache and hindrance for the festival on many levels. Between FB permanently shutting down some of our ad accounts to cumbersome government-imposed rules and regulations limiting what we could do, and various other limitations standing in our way, we made the decision to change.
The festival will still have the same focus and overall format in a new venue – Royal Canadian Legion #1 – in downtown Calgary. The art expo and marketplace will be fully integrated into the festival. We will continue to bring in great music acts from Canada, the US and around the world. We can focus on the growth of the festival without being limited in any way and still provide all our guests with a great experience.
Be sure to follow the page——> The Electric Highway and share it with others. Watch for the launch of the website coming soon as well as early bird passes going on sale soon and the announcement of the full festival line up within the next few weeks. We look forward to continuing this journey with you on The Electric Highway!

Here is the killer lineup for Day Two of the 2018 edition of the 420 Music & Arts Festival:
Coming all the way from the deserts of El Segundo, California with the raddest crate of vinyl to DJ on 420 is the legendary Brant Bjork of Kyuss. He is joined by returning favorites Vancouver’s dynamic, psychedelic La Chinga, the down and dirty fuzz of Calgary’s Buffalo Bud Buster, kick ass rock of Bazaraba and SK’s spaced out Cosmic Doom of ChronoBot. The line up is rounded out by festival newcomers BC’s Sludgy MENDOZZA, atrippy ride on The Mothercraft (Edmonton) and the whiskey soaked, haunted blues of Calgary’s RAW.
Friday Event —–> www.facebook.com/events/661554384232740/
Capping off the Festival is Montreal’s Dopethrone! This is Dopethrone’s first trip to Calgary and they promise to absolutely obliterate us with their thick, destructive riffs. They are joined by two of last year’s favorites Regina’s psychedelic Orbital Express (Official) and blues-soaked trio The Electric Revival from Calgary. Add B,C,’s crushing trio of Buzzard, CHUNKASAURUS and HERON, throw in some Winnipeg Doom Ogimaa – style, the driven sludge of Saskatoon’s Black Hell Oil and get the whole thing started with Calgary’s enigmatic Pelican Death Squad and what do you have? A monstrous finish to the second edition of the Festival!
